Kris Yun
Vice President of Advocacy
Kris Yun is a senior at Glenbrook North High School who is beyond ecstatic to represent her fellow DECA members and serve on the Illinois DECA State Action Team. With a year of possibility and opportunity, Kris seeks to create a community that fosters confidence and camaraderie.
Joining DECA her freshman year as a dubious, inexperienced freshman, Kris never considered that she would ever have the opportunity to serve as the former IL DECA VP of Philanthropy and place 5th and 2nd at ICDC. Beginning to explore her passion for finance, Kris hopes to give back to the friends, chapter advisors, and mentors who have sparked her interest.
This year, Kris is proud to serve as the president emeritus of the GBN chapter. Working closely with an outstanding board, mentors, and chapter advisors to organize weekly DECA meetings, fun and informative Kahoots, DECAnomics game nights, and future fundraising events, Kris hopes to introduce a paradigm shift for the intersection of curriculum and play. Seeking to create a community of driven peers, Kris wants to create career development opportunities and encourage others to utilize DECA’s opportunities.
Emerging stronger from the pandemic, Kris’s goals include implementing a mentorship and internship connection platform and advancing business equity legislation. Allowing students a one-stop site for contact information and open applications, an Illinois DECA sponsored fellowship will allow greater accessibility to students interested in furthering their professional careers. First contacting business professionals from the five clusters of business administration, finance, marketing, entrepreneurship, and hospitality and tourism, the Illinois DECA website will be a resource for community and innovation. Similarly, Kris hopes to open the door of opportunity and serve underrepresented communities to have greater accessibility to business education.
Outside of DECA, Kris loves listening to Mitski and obsessively playing Wordle. Kris hopes to get to know all of the chapters individually.
As a member of the State Officer Team, Kris is excited to connect both individually and on the chapter level. Let’s Get the Edge and push for excellence!
