State Charter Fee & IFME Dues Form

Student Membership List Form

1. All membership information can be found on the National DECA web site at http://deca.org/membershipprocessing.html and follow the directions. There are also basic step-by-step instructions located at this site.

2. The second semester dues must be complete and paid for by February 1, 2008 in order to participate in Illinois DECA's State Career Development Conference..

3. You need to complete the national membership online registration and mail your membership check directly to National DECA. You will not be considered DECA members until the check is received by National DECA. Complete the State Charter Fee & IFME Form, Student Membership List Forms (see above), save a copy, have an administrator sign the Student Membership List Form and send the original forms, with a check for your charter fee & IFME dues, payable to Illinois DECA, to Joan Varanauski..

4. The amount of the chartering fees and IFME dues, are found on the State Charter Fee & IFME Dues Form.

5. Deadline dates are also found on the web site Calendar and also in the Illinois DECA State Handbook that was emailed to you at the beginning of the school year. If you did not receive your copy of the State Handbook you can download it from the web or notify Joan at jvaranauski@ildeca.org and one will be sent to you by email..

6. Follow the instructions given on the national roster.

7. Please type & submit the original "Student Membership List Form" from the top of this page (do not create your own form). Make sure an administrator signs the form where indicated.. The Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) requests the member list to be in two-columns -- the first column to contain the member's name -- the second column to contain the name of the associated Business, Marketing or Management class in which the student is enrolled. Our state funding is based on the number of DECA student members enrolled in a business class. Your chapter President's name should be typed at the top of the form with their title and email address. Their name should also be alphabetically listed in the column with all the other members. The number of names in the first column will be the member count for calculating student dues. If your student is not in an associated Business, Marketing or Management class, they may still join DECA -- just leave the column next to their name blank.

8. When submitting names, use full names (last name first), not nicknames. The name should appear the same on ALL documents (registration, competition, etc.) throughout the year. Names must appear as submitted to National DECA for membership.

9. Each chapter needs to pay the $10 chapter rechartering fee with the state roster.

10. Many of you have supported the Illinois Foundation for Marketing Education with your yearly advisor membership dues. The IFME thanks you for this support and hopes that this partnership will continue with this year's dues. Remember, students are not eligible for any Illinois scholarships if their Advisor is not a member of IFME.

11. After your membership registration and payment is received by National DECA they will send you your membership packet.

12. All chapters must pay minimum dues to National DECA equivalent to at least ten (10) members or have 100% of enrollment in marketing education as DECA members. 100% membership means that ALL students eligible to join a chapter are National and State dues paying members. The only exception is in the case of a new or reactivated chapter who has two years to obtain ten (10) members.

13. National DECA Board policy states that ALL members, including chapter advisors, must pay membership dues.

14. Please make a copy of the on-line form of the National membership for your own file.

15. Please mail the State Charter Fee and IFME Dues Form along with the Student Membership List Form(s) and school check to:
